The Future of Reading: the Amazon Kindle

The Future of Reading: the Amazon Kindle

I think I saw Richardson a little wide-eyed about this product, but it looks like an early indication this might go the way of the Zune. Niche and too restrictive. Man, it's like working in some schools. The Terms of Use is a fun read.

$399 for the Kindle, plus $9.99 for the titles. Yeah, those paperbacks are cumbersome. And I read one book at a time. Is the price overkill? I think so. I am a slow reader. Maybe my mother-in-law would find more use out of this. I won't even tell my father about this... Mr. "I Enjoy the Feel of a Hard Bound Book in My Hand."

Still, I would love to check it out.

Wait, does this not look oddly familiar to the OLPC XO with less functionality?

Update: You want the back and forth on this in a less rambling style? Read these two posts and see where you fall. I'm with Miguel and Stephen Downes on this one.
